If you’ve recently checked your Google Business Profile and noticed reviews missing, you’re not alone. A major Google bug has been causing reviews to disappear from local business listings since around February 7, 2025. Many business owners, including medspa professionals, are scrambling to figure out what’s happening and whether these lost reviews will be restored.
Why Are Google Reviews Disappearing?
Google has acknowledged the issue but hasn’t provided a clear explanation for why it’s happening. Reports suggest that reviews are vanishing from listings randomly, affecting businesses across multiple industries. Some businesses have lost a handful of reviews, while others have seen dozens wiped out overnight.
Will the Reviews Come Back?
The big question: Are these lost reviews gone forever?
Google has confirmed that they are working on a fix, but they haven’t provided a timeline for when (or if) the missing reviews will be restored.
Historically, Google has been able to recover reviews in some cases, but not always. If your medspa has lost reviews, there’s no guarantee they’ll be reinstated.
What Should You Do?
✔ Check Your Google Business Profile – If you haven’t already done it, go and check to see how many reviews are still showing and take screenshots for your records.
✔ Report the Issue to Google Support – If you’ve lost a significant number of reviews (5 or more), submit a support request here.
✔ Encourage New Reviews – Ask recent clients to leave fresh reviews to counteract the loss.
✔ Diversify Your Reputation Strategy – Strengthen your presence on Yelp, Facebook, RealSelf, and other review platforms to avoid being overly reliant on Google.
✔ Stay Updated – Follow Google’s updates or join industry forums to stay in the loop on when (or if) reviews will be restored.
Update: According to Search Engine Journal, Google started running fixes today, January 12th and a number of medspa who have lots reviews have reported a few have come back.
